NOTE: West Highland Roads:
Only a few years ago motoring on these was a lengthy and erratic excercise. Since then there have been many improvements. Although many of the roads are still single track, there are ample passing places. A relaxed and courteous style prevails, 60mph can be achieved on main roads whilst on others 30 to 40 is the norm. In any event most people find haste unnecessary and prefer to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Just be aware of the roaming sheep, cattle and red deer.
